Its new formula with improved lithium concentration arises from the need to provide rapid protection to the substrate while the silicate is curing, and reduces the risk of penetration and contamination by oily substances, colored or chemically aggressive aqueous solutions. When applied to new or existing concrete, it penetrates pores and capillaries, reacting chemically with the lime formed during cement hydration to produce insoluble calcium silicate hydrate, thereby creating a densified, closed, compact structure against liquids and abrasion, maximizing the life of the substrate. During the reaction and curing time of the silicate, thanks to the hydrophobic coating applied to the substrate, the surface will be protected against unwanted absorption and its resistance to oils and efflorescence will increase. Having a smaller molecular size than silicates of other alkali metals, lithium silicate allows Concrete Hardener Lithium to penetrate deeper. At the same time, it closes micro-pores that would otherwise form a slippery and potentially hydrolyzable superficial film when applied differently with other silicate metals. This means it can be applied at any stage of the grinding cycle, whereas other types of silicates are preferably laid during more "open" grinding. Another feature of Concrete Hardener Lithium is the high gloss that, combined with lithium silicate, has ideal water resistance, and we recommend using this product on all surfaces intended for frequent wet maintenance and cleaning.
